First World War Project – Roses

Each year on Armistice day I have been creating and uploading a track as a commemoration of the Centenary of the First World War. Eventually all the pieces will be combined in a new larger work, hopefully to be completed in 2018.

2016 is the centenary of the Battle of the Somme – The final tally of the battle included 420,000 British, 200,000 French and 500,000 German casualties.

The poem, “I have a rendezvous with Death” is by Alan Seeger, who died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1st. July, 1916.
